Explore Lithgow is a proud family-run business built on a lifelong connection to place, people and adventure. We are second-generation guides, continuing a love for storytelling and exploration that began long before this business existed.
Nathan grew up alongside the guiding world. His father worked as a tour guide throughout much of Nathan’s childhood, often involving him in his work and sharing stories of the Blue Mountains and their beauty. While those stories sparked curiosity, it was the act of exploring itself that truly captured Nathan’s heart.
Nathan has since spent his career learning, instructing, teaching and leading outdoor and wilderness education programs across New South Wales and Victoria. Over time, his work evolved into community development and youth work, where he used adventure-based programs to support and empower young people at risk of entering the juvenile justice or foster care systems.
Since moving to Lithgow with his family, Nathan has continued to give back to the local community and now leads the Lithgow & District Volunteer Rescue Squad. He feels deeply honoured to have been entrusted with this role, leading the primary rescue team for the Lithgow region. This work includes responding to car accidents, lost and trapped bushwalkers, canyoners and climbers, four-wheel-drive incidents and other emergencies across complex terrain.
Chloe brings a strong and complementary skill set to Explore Lithgow. With a background in outdoor education, she has led abseiling and rock-climbing programs and coordinated large-scale school adventure programs across the region. Alongside this, Chloe has managed a commercial kitchen and built a career in high-pressure retail environments, developing strong organisational, leadership and people skills.
More recently, Chloe’s work has focused on empowering young girls through school-based seminars and programs, creating safe, supportive spaces that build confidence, resilience and connection. Her experience in education, leadership and community engagement shapes the welcoming, inclusive approach at the heart of Explore Lithgow.
Together, Explore Lithgow reflects who we are as a family. Deeply connected to this region, passionate about sharing its landscapes and stories, and committed to creating experiences that are thoughtful, safe and genuinely meaningful.
